Becoming a patient

Eligibility and the first steps to request care.

Who may be eligible for care at DAWN?

DAWN serves adults age 18 and older who live in Aurora, Colorado, and do not have health insurance. All three requirements apply.

Does DAWN provide care for children?

No. DAWN does not provide pediatric care. Patients must be age 18 or older.

Can I become a patient if I have health insurance?

No. People with active Medicaid, Medicare, employer-sponsored insurance, marketplace insurance, or other private health coverage are not eligible for care at DAWN.

Is there a cost for care at DAWN?

DAWN is a free clinic for people without insurance. There is no cost when you are seen at DAWN.

How do I become a patient?

Call DAWN at 303-800-9677 or use the Contact Us. Either route starts an appointment request. It does not guarantee an appointment.

Can I schedule my first appointment online?

DAWN does not offer instant online scheduling. Call 303-800-9677 or use the Contact Us form to request an appointment and receive next steps.

What should I include in my voicemail?

Leave your name, callback number, preferred language, and the best time for DAWN to return your call. Do not leave symptoms, diagnoses, medication details, or other private health information.

When will DAWN return my call?

DAWN will contact new patients within 1–2 business days with intake instructions and next steps.

Do I need identification or other documents to begin?

No. You do not need identification, proof of residency, income records, insurance documents, medication information, or other documents to begin or attend your first visit.

Appointments and visits

Clinic time, arrival, and what to expect.

When is primary care available?

The public primary-care clinic time is Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. Other clinics may operate at other times, but their schedules are not published on the patient website.

Do I need an appointment?

Appointments are strongly encouraged. Primary-care walk-in visits may be available Tuesday evenings beginning at 6:00 p.m., but they are not guaranteed. DAWN’s eligibility requirements still apply.

How early should I arrive?

Scheduled patients should arrive 15 minutes before their appointment.

What should I do if I will be late?

Call DAWN at 303-800-9677. Patients who arrive too late may be asked to reschedule. DAWN does not publish a specific cutoff time.

How do I cancel or reschedule an appointment?

Current patients may use the Patient Portal in the site header or call DAWN at 303-800-9677.

What happens if weather or an unexpected closure affects a clinic session?

DAWN will contact affected patients by phone to reschedule.

How long does a visit usually take?

Visits typically take 60–90 minutes.

What should I bring to my visit?

You do not need to bring anything. Follow any additional instructions DAWN gives you directly before your visit.

May a family member, caregiver, or support person come with me?

Yes. Family members, caregivers, and other support people are welcome. To meet space requirements, limit accompaniment to two people.

Is language assistance available?

Yes. Language assistance is available when you call, and interpretation can be requested when you arrive. You do not need to arrange an interpreter in advance.

Where is DAWN located?

DAWN is inside the CU Anschutz Health and Wellness Center at 12348 E Montview Boulevard, Aurora, CO 80045.

Where should I park?

In the Monte Vista lot, park in a designated space marked Patient Parking.

Is parking free for patients?

Use a designated Patient Parking space when one is available. If you park in another space, DAWN can provide a parking code before your visit or when you arrive.

Which entrance should I use?

Use the East Entrance.

Where do I check in?

Take the elevator from the lobby to the second floor and check in at the Wellness Clinic.

Is the building accessible?

Yes. Accessible parking is available, all entrances are wheelchair accessible, and an elevator is available in the lobby.

What if I need an accessibility accommodation?

Call DAWN at 303-800-9677 before your visit to discuss your needs and plan together.

Can I get to DAWN using public transportation?

Use the current RTD Trip Planner to plan your trip. Routes and schedules may change, so DAWN does not reproduce specific transit directions. The Plan Your Visit page has the current planning link.

Why does the website ask me to load the Google Map?

The map is optional and does not connect to Google Maps until you choose Load Google Map. The address and Get Directions link stay available without loading the map. Visit Plan Your Visit for the map and directions.
